Mission & Vision

Cebu Bible College is a training program overseen and funded by the church of Christ. Its purpose is to train and equip men and women to effectively communicate the Word of God, and to instill within them a vision for world evangelism.
  1. The school discharges its mission through…
  2. 1. Quality instruction in Bible and church ministry. Cebu Bible College offers Associate and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Bible, patterned after degree curriculums found in U.S. schools of preaching and Christian universities.
  3. 2. Teaching proper approaches to Bible study. Cebu Bible College prides itself in helping students learn to do reliable, serious investigation of the Word of God. Rather than “spoon-feeding” or “indoctrination”, CBC encourages self-discovery of Bible truths, thus providing an atmosphere where students are free to seek, explore, and think for themselves as they struggle to make the Christian faith their own. Equipped with the proper tools, CBC students are thus motivated to become life-long students of the Bible.
  4. 3. Heavy emphasis on practical training and application. In our attempt to prepare young men for ministry, a number of opportunities for practical training are incorporated into our degree programs.
    1. a) From the beginning, students are taught how to share the Good News of Christ and are required five hours of weekly evangelism practice in the local community.
    2. b) Students participate in annual, weeklong evangelistic campaigns…sometimes even twice-a-year.
    3. c) Local congregations provide opportunity for students to exercise their gifts and develop their talents in preaching, teaching, song leading, and working with youth.
    4. d) Every summer, students are assigned to congregations to do evangelistic fieldwork, for a minimum of eight weeks, under the supervision of local church leaders.
    5. e) A college campus ministry program, jointly supervised by CBC staff and local brethren, trains those who would like to minister to college youth. Students participating can work with recognized campus ministries that have been established though this program.
    6. f) Students are required to complete two years of internship before receiving their diploma. The process is as follows; After completing two years of study, the student will be assigned to local congregations for 14 months of internship. The student will maintain a course load of 2 to 3 subjects at CBC during this time. After this, the student will return to fulltime study at CBC for two more years. Upon completion of these two years of study, he will undergo another year of internship with a congregation anywhere in the nation. Once this is successfully completed, the student may be formally graduated.
    7. g) Additional opportunities exist locally for students to learn ministry to indigents and the homeless through the Good News Medical Clinic and through Lilia’s Place Cebu.
  5. 4. Providing a venue for church events. The campus of Cebu Bible College provides an excellent venue for brethren from the metro area, and even the region, to assemble. Cebu Bible College and the Talamban church, whose facilities make up the campus, host inter-congregational fellowships, seminars, workshops, youth gatherings, and even summer camps. Christians from abroad work with and visit the campus, offering encouragement and instruction to the students and the brethren, thus helping to broaden the local church’s perspective on the mission and influence of the church abroad.
